Basketball: the Blues gaining momentum – Le Point

The French fought a demonstration against Germany, dominated 76 52 Friday in Strasbourg, and while ramping up their preparations for Euro-2015 basketball almost coming to an end.

They find the “Mannschaft” Dirk Nowitzki on Sunday in Cologne (15.00) in a final friendly before their debut at the European Championship, organized mainly in France, September 5 in Montpellier.

This final trial run will be the opportunity to give more consistency to a preparation where they are unbeaten at home and now have a record of seven wins against two losses.

Six days after their narrow success against Belgium (74-72) at home, Captain Boris Diaw, who honored his 200th selection in 33 years, and its partners have made themselves happy against a great nation of European basketball, losing momentum in recent years.

European Champion in 1993, Third World-2002, Germany is no longer mounted on the podium for the silver medal finish at the Euro-2005.

She hopes to change that with the return after a four year absence, his NBA star Dirk Nowitzki, struggling Friday, and a young talented generation embodied by the leader Dennis Schröder and pivot Tibor Pleiß.

But on Friday, she soon imploded in the sweltering heat of the Rhenus. After five minutes, France took the game to their account and suffocated his opponent with a relentless defense and an address found behind the arc (7/10 at the break). The Blues have enabled a 31-0 in twelve minutes (42-15).

Too awkward, Chris Fleming’s men therefore remained silent for more than a quarter-time!

“At that time, defensive investment was very good, the quality of rotations as well. Even that seemed easy for them was difficult because a hand arose from nowhere”, appreciated coach Vincent Collet

-. Match folded in the first half –

In the domestic sector, France has not suffered from the absence of Alexis Ajinça , forced by his club (Pelicans New Orleans) to withdraw from the euro because of sore Achilles tendons.

After a discreet begins, Rudy Gobert (8 pts, 7 rebounds), the pivot holder has again flaunted its physical qualities. Its lining, Joffrey Lauvergne, did even better (13 pts, 8 rebounds), probably delivering his most complete performance in preparation.

Vincent Collet could also give time to “benjamin” mouhammadou jaiteh (20 years), recalled to address the lack of Ajinça.

At halftime, concluded on a winning shot at the buzzer to Nicolas Batum, the French had already folded match (50-19). After the break, the Germans, upset, responded scoring more points in ten minutes (20) on the whole of the first period (19).

But France was able to keep them good distance to the end. “I think that the gap between the two teams is smaller than the final result. We lost the second half (26-33), there is still not a lot of things to deal with,” nevertheless relativized Diaw .
