French Open: Djokovic-Murray halftime resume interrupted … – Liberation

The semi-final between Novak Djokovic, world No.1, and Briton Andy Murray, No.3, Saturday only resume after being suspended in anticipation of a storm while Serbian preparing to serve in the fourth set (6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 3-3).

Djokovic won the first two sets in an authoritarian manner, but Murray responded in the third while the Serbian had procured two break points to lead 4-2.

The Columbia erased them and eventually crack “Djoko” and restart the game.

The winner of this showdown will meet in the final the Swiss Stan Wawrinka, who defeated French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in sweltering heat (6-3, 6-7 (1/7), 7-6 (7/3), 6-4).

The meeting between Djokovic and Murray was first temporarily stopped shortly after 20:30. Fifteen minutes later, when the first drops fell, officials decided to suspend the game until Saturday.

One must go back to 1999 to find traces of a semi-final played on gentlemen two days. Because of the rain, American Andre Agassi, future winner of the tournament Slovak Dominik Hrbaty and had to return on Saturday to play the rest of their game ahead of the ladies final.

2012 final won by Rafael Nadal against Djokovic was also held over two days because of bad weather.
