Ligue 1 Parc des Princes: Qatar Qatar or not? – West France

“I belie completely (…), there is no discussion” . Thus the mayor (PS) in Paris, Anne Hidalgo, wanted to cut short the rumors, exit Thursday night by Le Parisien-Aujourd’hui en France , that negotiations for redemption Parc des Princes would be ongoing between PSG and Qatar ….

The daily says that the City of Paris, owner of the Parc des Princes, discussed earlier in the year with management PSG from the sale of the sports arena, located in the west of the capital. The daily evokes a price “less than EUR 100 million” .

“There is no taboo in the sense that it is a subject which may be discussed one day, but there are no negotiations, there no amount “, said Anne Hidalgo to the press. Same story on the side PSG confirmed Friday “that the acquisition of Parc des Princes by the club does (was) not news at all” . On condition of anonymity, a source close to the City Hall has qualified these denials. It is “no a priori the agenda, even if it is not wrong on the merits” , the source said.

A convention up ‘in 2044

According to Le Parisien , the Qatari shareholder of the club, who wishes to bring the stadium’s capacity to 60,000 seats, could defray these expensive works of expansion “provided it is guaranteed to become owner of the Park” . Still should it be established that “the interest for the City to move from the current occupancy agreement to an assignment of the Parc des Princes” , said it in a statement.

The city hall recalls that a “convention of occupation of public property with Paris Saint Germain is currently underway for the occupation of the Parc des Princes until 2044″ , and works amounting to 75 million euros, carried out between March 2013 and August 2015, allowed “prompt and qualitative modernization” of the stadium in preparation for Euro 2016.

“The major work done since March 2013 are the safest Parc des Princes today one of the speakers and the most comfortable in Europe (…) The convention concluded with the City of Paris up until 2044 the club of exclusive operator position. This allows it (…) to invest serenely “, has echoed a PSG spokesman.

“A hypothesis among others”

“On the method” , the City of Paris wanted to highlight “a subject as complex as the sale of the Parc des Princes would entail heavy administrative procedures, consultation with the elected Council of Paris and specific studies conducted long before and transparently and publicly “.

Even before the denial of the Town Hall, the PCF groups and EELV to Paris Council had indicated their opposition to a proposed sale.

The Parisian stage, designed by architect Roger Taillibert and opened in 1972, currently has a capacity of about 48,000 seats. In May, Anne Hidalgo in Paris had made known its wish to see its capacity increased to 60,000 seats, and raised the possibility to present a draft to the Council of Paris “end of 2016 or early 2017″ .

During the municipal campaign, Anne Hidalgo had not closed the door to a possible sale: “Regarding the possible sale, I have no taboo This is a. hypothesis among others, but it is not relevant “, she had said in an interview with JDD in August 2013.
