The cheat sheet: Behind PSG, Monaco and Lyon are not expected references L1 – Eurosport.fr

The game: Each style and no winner

Lyon played his game, and his Monaco. OL has sought to control the ball (64% ownership), but has long struggled with a Monegasque team regrouped quite low and fast to project forwardly against attack. But both teams have suffered from the same disease, lack of spontaneity to approach the truth zone that resulted in an offensive inefficiency on both sides. They finally took advantage of each individual errors to score two. That of Lopes on Monegasque goal, and that of Subasic which led to the corner of the Lyon equalizer.

Players: Pasalic getting stronger

It has not always made the right choices, but Mario Pasalic did have a sizeable influence on the Monaco game beyond its purpose and its opportunity in the second half. He was also well surrounded in the middle, where Joao Moutinho, Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar were performing. Danijel Subasic signed a more mixed performance, with some parades but also a big mistake, as Anthony Lopes in order to Lyon. On the OL, Alexandre Lacazette, Claudio Beauvue, released at the break, Mathieu Valbuena and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, returning from injury, did not have the expected return. Rachid Ghezzal has managed a good entry.

What could have changed everything

A little mastery Wallace. The Brazilian defender has sealed Monaco with forceful intervention that does not impose on Rachid Ghezzal. His red card left ASM shorthanded for almost half an hour. Which allowed Lyon to definitively establish its territorial domination. Without it, OL would not necessarily have snatched a point to Louis II.

The stat: 0

Decidedly, the Monaco Jardim has trouble before his audience. This was already the case last season (9 draws conceded more than any other team in Ligue 1), and it still is early this year. Monegasques have still not signed any success to Louis II and today present the 18th home record in the league (3 draws and 2 defeats in five matches). Crippling for a suitor in the Champions League.

The tweet that does not reassure OL

The declara: Leonardo Jardim (coach Lyon)

“The referee got it wrong twice. He did not give a second card our opponent (for a challenge on Silva Yanga Mbiwa) and gives the red (against Wallace) And that changes everything “

The issue:.! Lyon and Monaco are they really the key contenders for second place?

Their duel confirmed the trend of the beginning of the year: Lyon and Monaco do not have the same advantages than last season. Lyon’s offensive firepower remains jammed in the absence of Nabil Fekir, like a Lacazette always borrowed and unable to influence the defense. For its part, the ASM no longer means the same guarantees as defensive last season. And the departure of Anthony Martial left a gaping void at the forefront of the Monegasque attack.

Beyond the ranking, it is above the level that speaks. At present, that of Monaco and Lyon does not match the ambitions of both clubs in the early season: the podium. The ASM and OL are far from the announced references L1, off PSG. Perhaps it is only a matter of time. Last season the two teams had also experienced a difficult starts before finding a stride that allowed them to hang the podium. The road is still long.
