Do you really hoping for a nice fight with your teammate Nico Rosberg?
L. H.: Absolutely. I was excited early in the race because we were close to each other and I thought, ‘ OK, we’ll have a stroke’. So it’s a shame for the team to have lost a car, and there was no such fight. But I knew Sebastian (Vettel) was behind me and I was like: ‘ If he was close to me, we could fight, it would be great for fans ‘. This victory does not encourage me to believe that everything is normal. This is a special moment for me to overtake Ayrton (Senna, 41 wins in F1) and I know that it is thanks to this phenomenal team has done a fantastic job this weekend.
How did you live this departure and the start of the race, especially when you were idling behind the safety car?
LH: There was no big deal, it’s just that the safety car was a bit slow. I took a very good start because I knew the key would be to stay in its wake, as close as possible to him to try to pass the suction. I tried out, because it was inside, but I was not able to take enough speed and arrived at the braking point. I do not want to take any chances and defended well. I thought then that we would have a good race, producing a pretty sight. This is where I saw him out of Turn 1 too broad, and I passed. He had obviously problems, so it was a shame for our team that worked very hard to prepare both cars, so we can win the manufacturers’ title.
How did you feel the last five laps?
LH: I tried to enjoy it, a good look at the car to drive well, to absorb all these emotions, while staying focused. I do not know how often I’ll still be in that position, so I wanted to enjoy this moment. It’s almost as if I felt truly blessed me. I love driving this car and I like the period we are in right now, in this phenomenal team. I’m incredibly proud to be part of it and I am very grateful to all the guys. During the last two laps, I thought I was living a dream.
