Top 14: Clermont bends inglorious a bis Toulon – Le Point

In a poor soulless remake of the last final of Cup Europe did give Clermont (22-19) a Toulon team much altered Marcel-Michelin unsuccessfully to take his head off the Top 14 on Sunday closing of the 25th day.

We knew outset that the poster would have nothing to do with that of Twickenham there are three weeks which had offered the RCT his third European title (24-18). Not the same context, or the same actors Var side nor the same grounds.

But we still hoped that increased competition for one of the first two places in the ranking, synonymous with direct accession in the semifinals (5-6 June in Bordeaux), would fall a little sauce.

Instead, both teams have delivered a rugby brew that ripped through the defensive bonus point by RCT, places the two teams at the same level (71 pts), but with the particular advantage to Var.

The way to the final four will have to decide very next Saturday at the last day: Clermont will move to Montpellier, French Stage (2nd, 70 pts) will go to Brive when Toulon which probably reinstate its executives, will host Oyonnax.

For the RCT manager had made the bet to leave the bulk of his forces at rest, scoring six hopes on the scoresheet for this tricky away in Auvergne.

L ‘Var cornaquée team by former Clermont Gerhard Vosloo has not fallen at all, greatly disrupting the ASM by an aggressive defense and showing real attacking intent.

In front, men Franck Azema distinguished mainly by their ability to babble all their game launches, causing annoyance nevertheless fills a Michelin

-. The hinge of the injured ASM –

The part was turning sour even with the penalty scrum half Ludovic Radosavljevic (18th) and the opener Camille Lopez (29th), hamstring and anyway few inspired during his half hour on the lawn.

Dominator closed mixed, Clermont did not withdraw much if not a few penalties. Only to distinguish themselves in Clermont, Mike Delany, entered in place of Camille Lopez, did not tremble face to poles with a clear round and 17 points in total.

But even a Morgan Parra rewarding test a good job of the front (70) does not décrispait the game. CTN responded late on by his wingman Josua Tuisova (77) and forced to play the ultimate Clermont minutes under pressure. A test the siren denied Morgan Parra décramponnait not enough to deprive Toulon bonus.

Sad output at least for the few players who will leave the club at the end of the season and probably fought their last game at Michelin, as the iconic Julien Pierre and Julien Bonnaire.
