Philippe Saint-André has announced its list of 36 players for the World Cup group that will reduce to 31 men by the end of August.

The coach Philippe Saint-André announced Tuesday, May 19, the list of thirty-six players selected to prepare the next World Cup with the XV of France. At four months of the first match in England, “very happy to be here” , “PSA” made the announcement in a building of Defense, the headquarters of Societe Generale, the a partner in the France team.

This group of thirty-six players uses several veterans who had disappeared from circulation in the last matches of the national team during the tournament six nations where the Blues had once again failed a disappointing fourth place.

Come back well at the Blues hooker Dimitri Szarzewski (Racing-Metro), third-row Yannick Nyanga (Stade Toulousain), Louis Picamoles (Stade Toulousain), Fulgence Ouedraogo (Montpellier) and, of course, openers Frederic Michalak (Toulon) and François Trinh-Duc (Montpellier), which had long been troubled by injuries.

Camille Lopez dismissed

However, one of the major surprises is the absence of the opener Clermont Camille Lopez. Flyhalf yet part of the framework of the XV of France in Six Nations. No doubt he is now the cost of a too random performance in his kicking game, but also a disagreement between the medical staff of Clermont and the XV of France, following his knee injury Italy in March.

The case illustrates the difficulties Lopez Philippe Saint-André to constitute a hinge holder to the scrum-half positions and flyhalf. Since 2012, sixteen pairs and have already been tested. An obviously regrettable instability when we know the crucial importance of this game industry.

Other absent from this list of the thirty six also included three Maxime (Machenaud, Mermoz and Médard) opener Jules Plisson (Stade French), hit in the left shoulder, or winger Teddy Thomas, although it had been one of the main test-matches revelations last fall. For his first cap, winger twirling of Racing Metro and had scored three tries against Fiji, before doing again against Australia.

Three friendly matches to honing

More broadly, since his enthronement as coach, Philippe Saint-André will total reviewed eighty-two players in thirty-seven games (20 losses, 15 wins and 2 draws, or only 40.5% of wins). His group umpteen will gather from July 6 to National Rugby Centre in Marcoussis country setting (Essonne).

The XV of France will then adopt its final form, to be reduced to thirty one players by August 31, to this eighth edition of the World Cup. A competition that the Blues have never won and this time they will open on 19 September in the London temple Twickenham against Italy.

In the meantime, the XV of France will have three chances to break-in a friendly match twice with thirty-six players against England at Twickenham (August 15) and the Stade de France (August 22) and once with his final group of thirty a man, always at the Stade de France against Scotland (5 September)
