Belgian cycling again in mourning after the death of Daan Myngheer – Eurosport

         Belgian cycling was hit hard in two days. Monday night, Daan Myngheer died at the hospital of Ajaccio, suffered a heart attack twenty-four hours after the death of Anthony Demoitié, 25, in an accident in the classic Gent-Wevelgem. The couor team Roubaix Lille Métropole, who attended Saturday to Criterium International, has a heart attack at full speed. Myngheer was not yet 23 years old.

         Myngheer was arrested Saturday at about thirty kilometers from the finish of the first stage in Porto-Vecchio International Criterium around Ajaccio. He rode in the ambulance of the race where he had a heart attack which required immediate care in an emergency. In the afternoon, he was placed on life support (intubated and ventilated), and discharged from the polyclinic Porte-Vecchio in Ajaccio hospital.
       

         “ It gives signs of life but it does not wake up ,” said his team, very worried, in Saturday evening. The rider died Monday evening. “ The young rider had already a malaise in 2014 during an amateur race played in his country, ” indicates the L’Equipe . And to clarify, that “ after the accident, cardiac examinations had revealed no abnormality. This winter, he had undergone new tests (France and Belgium), essential to the allocation of license . ”
       

         Dann Myngheer, Belgian champion junior in 2011, turned professional last year in the team Verandas Willems before joining Roubaix Lille Métropole (3rd division) this season. In his message on Facebook, his team says: “ Daan will donate his organs to help others, it was his will .”
       

         The death occurs Dann Myngheer twenty-four hours after that of his compatriot Antoine Demoitié young Belgian rider of the team Wanty-Gobert, in an accident in the classic Gent-Wevelgem.
