The president of Bastia was taken into custody in connection with an investigation by an investigating judge on questionable procurement by the club for the installation of a lawn in Borgo. Pierre-Marie Geronimi, placed in custody on the premises of the judicial police in Bastia, could be presented Friday morning to the investigating judge, after his hearing, said the prosecutor, Nicolas Bessone.
justice has opened an investigation to “misuse of company assets and laundering” , about a contract awarded by the professional club for a synthetic lawn in his training center in Borgo, near the stadium of Furiani. Another director of the SC Bastia is also heard in this case.
The leader had already been taken into custody in connection with an investigation into the conditions of the laying of the lawn. He then was a preliminary investigation by the prosecutor. Charged 600,000 euros, the lawn was installed by an enterprise of the Hérault which would be fictitious, had indicated a source close to the case. During his detention in December, Pierre-Marie Geronimi had also asked about other facts, movements of funds between Sporting Club Bastia (SCB) and a car rental company whose sports leader is the manager.
The club had expressed “its full confidence” to its president. “The stadium with artificial turf market in the youth training center located in Borgo, has resulted in any wrongdoing or illegal financial flows” , had also assured the SC Bastia during the previous police custody.
