Geneva (AFP) – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday confirmed the ban on transfers for the next two periods, until January 2016, FC Barcelona for offenses relating to the transfer of ten minor players .
“The panel found that FC Barcelona had violated the rules concerning the protection of minors and registration of minors who attend football academies,” said CAS in a statement, adding that “accordingly, the decision of FIFA (taken in April) is confirmed in its entirety and the penalty remains in force.”
The Spanish club will be allowed to recruit well over the next two mercatos (Jan. and summer 2015) and will have to pay a fine of 450,000 Swiss francs (374,142 euros).
Barça grabbed the CAS after the Fifa sentenced him to spring a recruitment ban for two successive mercatos, a decision confirmed in summer 2014 by the Appeal Board of the International Federation.
