Masters 2015: Roger Federer set a coward to Kei Nishikori but pocketed his third success in three matches – Eurosport.fr

One begins to see clearly. Coming to grips with Kei Nishikori in straight sets (7-5, 4-6, 6-4), Roger Federer, already qualified for the semifinals of the Masters before the meeting, eliminated the Japanese race halves. With this third win in as many games, the Swiss was mainly ensured first place in the Stan Smith group.

A picture of a constrastée season, where he confirmed his status as a Top 10 but ultimately made fewer sparks in major tournaments in 2014, Nishikori came close, to Federer, sign in extremis his first victory of the year on a Top 5 … and this even though the Swiss was on track to provide an easy success in two sets when he posted 7-5, 4-1 and again on 30A service of his opponent. But a breakdown of first serves of No. 3 worldwide, coupled with total risk-taking (and paying) the No. 8, earned Kei Nishikori to include 17 of the 21 points listed below and completely restart the game.

The third set again caused his spot to a cold sweat Federer under pressure from the Japanese quality back … but may also breaker at any time (30% success behind his second ball for Federer, 41% Nishikori). Balance sheet: a match to 11 registered breaks, where (for once) Federer showed greater realism to prevail after game 2:10, strong immaculately statistical breaks balls converted 6 of 6 attempts where Nishikori ends in 5 of 12 (42%).

Federer first, Nishikori eliminated, second in the group will be played on Thursday evenings between Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych. Waivers favorable for Djokovic: any other result than victory will qualify Berdych in 2 sets the world No.1.
