“Panama Papers”: these 140 international personalities who have used offshore companies – The World

The Heads of State and Government who have used offshore companies in Mossack Fonseca.

The “Panama papers’ three-point

  • Le Monde and 106 editors in 76 countries, coordinated by the International Consortium of investigative journalists (ICIJ), had access to a wealth of new information that cast a harsh light on the opaque world of offshore finance and tax havens.
  • 11.5 million files from the archives of the Panamanian firm Mossack Fonseca, specialist domiciliation of offshore companies between 1977 and 2015. This is the biggest leak information never exploited by the media.
  • “Panama papers” reveal that in addition to thousands of anonymous, many heads of state, billionaires, big names in sports, celebrities or personalities within the scope of international sanctions have used offshore arrangements to conceal their assets

After a systematic research, International consortium of investigative journalists (ICIJ) and 107 media partners, including Le Monde found that twelve heads of state and government (including six currently in operation) had conducted such activities in confidence.

A number which you can add 61 people close to these world leaders, in the image of Mounir Majidi, private secretary to the King of Morocco Mohammed VI, Sergey Roldugin, a close friend of Vladimir Putin or Rami Makhlouf, cousin of Bashar al-Assad.
