Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Tsonga pays Roger Federer and Monfils awaits – Eurosport.fr

Exceptional Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Strong and offensive, the French had offered the scalp of Roger Federer on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 Monte Carlo. Surprised in the first set, the French went for his semi-final in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 7-5) after 2:06 of play. He will face Gael Monfils, who dominated Marcel Granollers in straight sets ( 6-2, 6-4). The France will be a finalist for the first time since 2000 and the success of Cédric Pioline face Dominik Hrbaty.

Without reaching game highs, 1/4 finals has still offered a good show in Monaco central. More physically fresh as Switzerland, Tsonga went for his semifinal as a great. A year and a half after his success against Federer in the final of the Masters 1000 Toronto, Tsonga did it again. With courage and selflessness. He will play his second career semifinal on the Rock after 2013.

At 5-5 in the final round, while none of the men had conceded a break point, the French took advantage of the first moment of hesitation from his opponent in the final set to take his service. Despite a scare at the conclusion – it was conducted 0/30 – Manceau benefited approximations of a very offensive Federer to complete this encounter. In the line of a second round where it hurts to Federer a bit just physically, but very interesting in his movements and his defensive play.

Despite an average percentage of first balls (56%), Tsonga took advantage of a first strong blow to get this final quarter (73%). Despite the waste in the game, including setbacks, and challenges facing the game back from Switzerland, Tsonga showed nice things before the Monegasque public. What we remember is his willingness to always go forward. And its ability to be there in the hot spots. A beautiful print and a good win.

For its part, Gael Monfils took full rank face Marcel Granollers. Easy winner of the Spaniard in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) in the last quarter-final after 1:14 game, the Parisian has obtained the right to rub his compatriot in half. Higher than the Catalan, Monfils sat on a forehand well adjusted and regularity quite impressive services (79% raw) to make a difference.

Despite a break conceded early in the second round (0-1 in favor of the Spanish), he quickly re-mobilized, before resuming its rival service 4-4 and complete his case. Only downside: a bit of waste in his game by time (25 unforced errors). But “The Monf” again confirmed its very early regular season.
