The men’s team of France’s water polo has managed to win a place for the Rio Olympics, a first for blue polo players since 1992 and the Barcelona Games.
The French have imposed Friday in Trieste (Italy) in the quarterfinals of the Olympic qualifying tournament against the Netherlands (12-11 ), guaranteeing themselves a spot in the final four of TQO, and the precious Olympic sesame.
They were led throughout the game by the Dutch, before taking the lead two minutes from the end of fourth quarter (8-7).
Joined at 8-8 a minute from the end, they have resorted to a penalty shootout to qualify thanks to Mehdi Marzouki, author the last shot
