US Open: Novak Djokovic has a new title against Roger Federer – The Express

Novak Djokovic reaffirms its hegemony. The world number one, implacable, ended Sunday at the American dream of Roger Federer and offered in New York his third Grand Slam title of the year, the tenth of his career. To achieve this, he braved particularly hostile conditions: rain, public to the cause of his opponent and Federer sparkling throughout the tournament. Nothing and no one managed to upset Djokovic.

At 5-4, Federer tried the all out and offered two more break points with a winning backhand volley and an unstoppable, but as a summary of the meeting, he left his chance and allowed Djokovic to pocket his seventh title of the year played in eleven finals. “I am very disappointed, I created my opportunities, I never had to find me to lead two sets to one but Novak really did the right thing,” admitted Federer who has materialized four his 23 break points. “I had a good year, my game is constant, Cincinnati is a good memory with victories in rapid succession on the number2 and world number 1 (Murray and Djokovic, Ed), which had never happened to me” , he stressed.
