Rugby World Cup: England loses to Wales (25-28) – Le Parisien

London (UK), our correspondent Julien Laurens | 26 Sept. 2015, 10:56 p.m. | Update: 27 Sept. 2015, 0:11

This has perhaps been the most beautiful, most intense and finally even the biggest England – Wales history, won tonight by the Welsh (28-25) in a Twickenham glowing! This is surely the most beautiful of the year rugby match and perhaps this World Cup.

History will record that it was thanks to a penalty from 50 meters Dan Biggar logically named man of the match, all late in the game as Wales won this incredible victory at the 127th meeting between the two enemy brothers. This same Biggar few seconds earlier issued a genius kick to offer a test Davis (71) and allow men to Warren Gatland to equalize (25-25)

This match was played in an incredible atmosphere where each veneer, won every ball snatched from the hands of the enemy, every point gleaned was hailed and celebrated by the roar of the 60,000 English fans or 20,000 Welsh which sometimes were even almost much noise. Under the eyes of William, Kate and Harry, royal family divided because William is vice president of the Welsh Federation and his brother Harry to the English Federation.

The voltage thus remained intense from start to finish, hymns to the final whistle. There has indeed never had more than ten-point gap between the two teams until these exceptional last ten minutes. Those who wanted the game, races and tests had to wait forty minutes after a first closed period, despite testing May (27th), and marked by the boot of Biggar and Farrell (23 and 20 points respectively).

Three injured for the XV Leek after halftime

But England – Wales is never a match like any other and the second period was beautiful. The English have folded under the power and audacity of Welsh, who always tried to play.

Stuart Lancaster, the defeated coach, has made mistakes and will be accountable after this defeat that will really hurt the hosts of the World Cup. Although they were dominant in mixed, they left too many freedoms to their opponents after the break.

This success in the group stage is significant or qualifying or elimination but the Welsh, though undermined by a lot of injuries and lost again Scott and Liam Williams and Amos tonight have made a big step towards qualification for the quarterfinals. England, she took a big slap very large and will play against Australia
