“A little trouble for Wenger” – Sport365.fr

HSH Prince Albert II (ruler of Monaco)

This is an extraordinary evening. I never thought or bet on a 3-1 win. It was a very serious match, very solid, very committed. With beautiful phases of the game and we knew advantage of the situation on the counterattack. I think it reminds us of some beautiful years. I honestly thought that if we brought a draw at the Emirates, it would already be great. View the face of the game, it was well deserved. I never expected to see such a score on the scoreboard.

Before the game, I have the chance to greet Arsene Wenger (note: the manager Arsene who began his coaching career at Monaco) and I said, “Listen Arsene be nice to us. ” And told him, “This is for you to be nice to us.” He said that of course the joking but it turned out quite right. When a coach of this quality is seven years in a club … He has scored the club and its history. We owe him a lot. It’s true that it’s been a little trouble of stealing a little evening but I think we do not want it. Even when you reserve it a beautiful home in three weeks in Monaco.

Nabil Dirar (field winger Monaco)

We are amazed. We did not think we would have such a result. We really tried the draw but after the goal of Kondogbia, we thought that it was possible to get a win. We won 3-1 but we know it will stay focused to return and play the same way. At the break, the coach (Leonardo Jardim) told us to continue on this path. Arsenal still had chances. We had a little luck. I also told the youth that it could be the break of their lives, to show things. We had to put them at ease. I am proud of them.

Aymen Abdennour (central defender Monaco)

Unfortunately, we conceded a goal then that is one of the best defenses in Europe. It’s good. It has huge players on all levels. It was a very good game in the middle. It’s not easy to win at Arsenal. This is one of the best clubs in the world. We played a fantastic game. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal. We wanted to win, to do something here. We gave everything. Despite the absences, we were strong. We had the will to win.

Vadim Vasilyey (Vice-President of Monaco)

I am very proud of our victory. We experienced a fantastic time. I am very happy for the team, the coach, the fans who came very numerous. It’s fantastic. This is proof that our project still has a future. Our project is still evolving and ambitious. It is the victory of all: the coach, the players, the coaching staff, leaders. If we had not worked together, it would not be possible. There are still 90 minutes. It has a lot of respect for Arsenal. We must prepare the return game and stay very focused.

Dimitar Berbatov (Monaco striker)

We always have had confidence in our abilities and, honestly, we deserved to win. We converted our opportunities and, ultimately, it is a very good win for us. This is not over. We still have a leg to play and Arsenal are a great team. Maybe they wanted the win more than them tonight. We fought in all areas of the field, we won our duels and scored three times. For a team like Arsenal, I do not think they can afford to underestimate their opponents, but if they did, too bad for them.

Geoffrey Kondogbia (middle of Monaco)

This does not surprise us because we know our capabilities. Today we knew if we did not play at 100%, it was not going to win this game. It was well prepared. We were ready and we knew we had a chance, even if they were small. We are aware of our performance. We know that there is quality in the squad but we certainly do not think we could win with two goals. We were focused and we did not give up until the end and that’s what made the difference. Halfway is made but it remains a second game. I hope we will be ready for the second leg in three weeks.
