7th day: Toulon gives lesson in Montpellier – Sport365.fr

In this beautiful afternoon Top 14, Toulon is necessary widely (40-17) to Montpellier with the key to the offensive bonus and temporarily takes the championship lead. After the defeat there a fortnight ago against Stade Mayol in French, the Var enchainent second consecutive victory. Montpellier, in the absence of Francois Trinh-Duc and Fulgence Ouedraogo rested, this defeat is not really like the game. The Montpellier have even par with Toulon in the first half, but the speed and impact of men Bernard Laporte made the difference. Montpellier remains third but found himself under threat of Bordeaux-Begles, Racing and Stade French playing 18:30.

Montpellier remains in contact

One gets the impression of not having attended the same game between the first and second half. If Toulon starts strong this early in the game and succeeded after thirteen minutes of play to take the lead with a try from David Smith, the Montpellier match eight minutes later by Jonathan Pélissié. The Toulon scrum is even heckled on his land, but James O’Connor (33th) succeeds on a fine movement with Matt Giteau to give air to the RCT. We approach halftime and the Red and Black have a comfortable lead as Lucas Dupont (40th) on a magnificent breakthrough, taking a backhand again Var brittle defense to score a try to go allowing for Héraultais go to the locker room with a three-point gap.

A second half-way

After the break, the intensity is still very High on the lawn. It is even Montpellier has the chance to equalize on an attempt to drop Benoit Paillaugue, who replaced Pélissié injured left ankle, but a disagreement with Enzo Selponi prevents them. It is from this moment that Toulon starts the steamroller. Giteau scored the third try of the game for Toulon and it is the beginning of the end for Montpellier who makes mistakes and gets punished by O’Connor foot. James O’Connor (59th) and it still D.Armitage (64th) come crucify Christophe Galtier’s men who try to deprive Toulon offensive bonus until the end, but Benjamin Fall dropped the ball before flattening in all late on. We found the high-powered RCT of last season …
