This Atlético-PSV was not memorable, but marked the history of the Champions League – Eurosport.fr

Twice (0-0), a first in 25 years

This eighth final between Atletico and PSV entered the history of the Champions League, at least in the modern era, from 1992 to 1993. For the first time, both teams failed to score during 210 minutes of actual playing time, with a (0-0) in both directions. To find such a scenario C1, we must go back to the 1990-1991 season. Spartak Moscow had then left Naples at the end of an identical scenario.

The penalties most prolific

It was not until the 15th shooter to see a failure, with the attempt to Narsingh the bar. The guards were not at the party during the penalty shoot-out goal, which ended with a (8-7) for the Colchoneros. This is the highest score during a meeting in the Champions League (excluding qualifying rounds).

The Colchoneros have tried a lot

Zoet has not lost only once in regulation time and overtime on Tuesday. It’s not for lack of trying for players of Diego Simeone. They hit at least 26 times (6 shots on target). This is the largest total without chipped from Braga against Cluj in September 2012 (38 shots).

Oblak, the kicks that’s his business …

Although he did not arrest any penalty PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday Jan Oblak performed a historic service. Indeed, this is the first keeper of the history of European competitions to win two sets of free throws consecutively. Last season, it is against Leverkusen that Jan Oblak came out winner of the fateful meeting by stopping a shot on goal and seeing Toprak Kiessling and knock over.

If Manuel Neuer and Tomislav Butina have won two sessions, no one had made a row.

The rest also

With this goalless result, Atlético had a merit keep a clean sheet. A habit this season since it is the 25th “clean-sheet” for Jan Oblak all competitions. This is the best keeper in a total of five major championships this season. What to see come before the quarterfinals.
