Coupe de France: Marseille qualified against Caen thanks to excellent Steve Mandanda – The Équipe.fr

Like last year, Marseille had to go to the shootout on Sunday for its opening match in the Coupe de France. But unlike his previous 32 finals, played in Grenoble (3-3, 4 tab 5), OM is this time emerged victorious in Caen (0-0, tab 3 to 1).

Facing a team very Norman legs and playful, OM has long rallied around, as usual, the excellent Lassana Diarra, to repel enemy attacks. The Olympian club also and above all able to count on Steve Mandanda applied (see below) to keep its qualification chances intact until the end.

Despite the Karim Rekik expulsion for unlawful intervention on Julien Féret (62nd), players from Michel have not cracked. They even seemed to behave better as the minutes, outnumbered, like a Lucas Ocampos available but awkward (91st, 97th and 109th). Michy Batshuayi also uninspired (49th and 77th), so this is the OM captain who took his responsibilities leaving three stops in the fateful meeting. Luckily he was there …

Present at the resumption of training Om despite approaches from England, Steve Mandanda has yet delivered a great match, in line with the first half of the season. Out of contract in six months, the keeper of the Blues won his duel with remote Andy Delort, who asked a lot, especially on long shots (27th and 74th). He also showed solid front Yahia (8th) and Bessat (42) prior to hijack attempts Féret, Ben Youssef and Bessat at the meeting of shots on goal.
