I am very happy. It was a great weekend for me here in China. This is a special place for me: I got my first pole position and my first win. It’s big and it was really a pleasure to drive on this circuit today. Everything worked well, the strategy of course, but not only. This is the most balanced car I had in the race. The tires have both held, so I’m really happy.
Except your departure, you have never been questioned.
It’s true that my departure was very good. Daniel (Ricciardo) went faster than me, but I was much faster. I then have quickly exceeded before a gap. I did not think that this Grand Prix would be easier. I pushed all the way to finish with the greatest possible advance. I’m glad everything is too well for me.

What can you learn such a race?
What we learn is that we are always the fastest car at the moment. But I think both Ferrari have not really shown what they can do. They had so many problems in the first three races that we must remain cautious. They are much closer than they have shown. From our side, we will try to keep the momentum going. I’m looking forward to the next races. I hope everything will also be fine.
It is too early to draw conclusions. Although we are well gone, only three races were sailed. This season will be the longest in the history of F1, with 21 Grands Prix, it would not be logical to make a first assessment premature. We will wait to see happening as a result. Of course, I’m happy with the way things are going, but I will not say more.
You have now 36 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the championship. Do you think that this gap will have end of season for the title?
It’s not much, I know what I’m saying. Lewis is more focused and motivated than ever. He will not give up. It is a reference for me, for all he has done in recent years. The battle between us will be great, as always “
